A search is underway for the body of a man who was murdered by his friends and dismembered with a chainsaw over a drug debt in bushland near New Norcia, north of Perth.

Mr Dunn disappeared from his Ballajura home in May 2015, and two men were convicted of his murder last year.

Gary David Jackson and Mark David Corbett were found guilty of beating Mr Dunn to death with a metal pole in a house in the Perth suburb of Alexander Heights over a drug debt, before cutting off his hands and head.

His remains have never been found.

Police confirmed today they were searching the Seven Mile Well Nature Reserve, about 120 kilometres north of Perth.

Mr Dunn bought drugs from Corbett and collected his drugs debts, but their relationship turned sour when Corbett presumed Mr Dunn was not giving him all the money he had collected.

Jackson, whose relationship with Mr Dunn also deteriorated, is serving a 22-year sentence for Mr Dunn's murder, while Corbett was sentenced to life in prison and will be eligible for parole in 2028.

Corbett was a key witness in Jackson's trial and received a lighter sentence in return for cooperating.
