What a view.

WHEN designing and building their beautiful Bruny Island house three years ago, the Jamiesons had every intention of living in it permanently.

Jane and husband Chris owned a holiday home on the island and had spent years relaxing there with family and friends

Jane said when they retired from work and built their current house — their dream home — it was on the block right next door to their shack.

“It is hard to let go, I can tell you,” she said.

The home is at 39a Cox Drive.

“We intended to stay put, but now we have grandchildren and circumstances have changed a bit. It was a huge, emotional decision to sell, especially after Chris designed and built the house.

“But we want to be able to be closer to the city to make it easy to spend time with children.”

Any homeowner would be thrilled with the location of this house, perched just above family-friendly Nebraska Beach.

No expenses spared.

No expense was spared in the design and build, which is clear from the high-quality, up-maket finishes, including tinted, double-glazed windows, New Zealand pure wool carpets, Silestone benchtops, Verosol blinds, gas hot water and cooking, plus Modwood decking with glass balustrades.

Jane said their idea was to create a French country home with a beach house feel.

She said after doing some research they came up with the dining room design with its high ceilings and blissful water views.

“The house is centred around that room,” Jane said.

“And there is always something happening on the water — boats, dolphins, birds … it is paradise.

“We designed the house so that the master bedroom also took in the water views, while the other bedrooms overlook a colourful garden.”

Family friendly beach.

The French country look is apt for the property’s coastal location, with the colour of the views framed by full-length windows.

The galley-style kitchen — which must be among the best views offered by any kitchen on the market — features a walk-in pantry, soft-close drawers and streamlined benchtops.

There are four bedrooms, with the master boasting a spacious ensuite and walk-in wardrobe.

The main bathroom has a double vanity and walk-in shower. It is styled to match the French country theme.

Outside there are multiple outbuildings.

Jane said living at Dennes Point is a pleasure.

“As soon as you get off the ferry and hit the road you can feel yourself unwinding,” she said. “It is a lovely community with a diverse group of people living here. It’s quite unique.”

Located on Bruny Island’s northern tip, Dennes Point’s population is only a couple of hundred people.

CoreLogic RP Data figures show six houses were sold in Dennes Point through the 12 months to March this year.
