Sam Newman is the previous owner of 4002/90 Lorimer St, Docklands.

The owner of a Docklands penthouse that formerly belonged to ex-AFL player and television personality Sam Newman is looking to bounce the pad for $5.5m-$6m.

And AFL icon Kevin Sheedy is helping to promote the 4002/90 Lorimer St listing, starring in an online video to extol the New York-style digs’ virtues.

OBrien Real Estate’s John Rombotis has recently enlisted Sheedy to appear in clips for other abodes including a 31.35ha property at 192-218 Coatsworth Rd, Portarlington, with a $6.5m-$7m asking range.

Mr Rombotis said the penthouse’s current owner purchased the four-bedroom home from Newman for $5m in 2020.

While the owner has used the site as a base while visiting Melbourne, he has never lived there.

Located within the five-tower Yarra’s Edge complex developed by Mirvac, the impressive residence features three bathrooms, three balconies and a powder room.

The main bedroom offers a large walk-in wardrobe and ensuite with a spa.

“It is penthouse living with that New York feel,” Mr Rombotis said.

“It’s great for entertaining.”

Other big names associated with Yarra’s Edge include Metricon director Ross Palazzesi who owns an apartment within the site, while another of its homes previously belonged to the late medical entrepreneur Geoffrey Edelsten.

In the listing video for Newman’s former pad, Sheedy talks about its magnificent views of Yarra River, Port Philip Bay and St Kilda.

“I just look and I keep thinking of Frank Sinatra and New York, New York,” Sheedy said.

“No wonder the great Sam Newman lived here for over a decade.”

This bedroom even has its own balcony.

When the former Geelong ruckman and ex-Footy Show host called the penthouse home, he kept his collection of vintage and prestige cars in a nearby warehouse.

He also docked a boat at the Yarra’s Edge Marina, which can be seen from the penthouse.

Another of Newman’s previous properties – which he owned but never lived in – is the infamous “Pamela Anderson” house on Canterbury Rd, St Kilda West, which he sold for $1.1m in 2002.
