14 Fryers Rd, Highton, goes to auction on May 4 with $990,000 to $1.089m price hopes.

The timing couldn’t have been better for the vendors of this Highton home when tackling an ambitious renovation project to transform it from drab to fab.

The couple put the finishing touches on 14 Fryers Rd with just five days to spare before the arrival of its first child in 2020.

The growing family has since been revelling in the space the 945sq m block affords after successfully remodelling an original four-bedroom house to create a contemporary sanctuary.

Gone is the drab grey brick facade – now painted a crisp white – and partially renovated interior that left a lot to be desired.

“They guy that owned it I believe he had started potentially renovating it but he passed away unfortunately so it was an absolute dump,” the vendor said. “We pretty much gutted it and it looks very different.

“We didn’t have any kids at the time, we were in Armstrong Creek on a very small block, and we knew we just wanted space for our kids to run around so that was really what attracted us.

“My husband is incredible in seeing the vision of what the property would be.”

The main living area is surrounded by garden.

The back lawn is kid and pet friendly.

The kitchen has stone benchtops and timber highlights.

They extended the home into the former carport to carve out space for a luxurious ensuite and walk-in wardrobe off the main bedroom and added a new living zone that pushes into the rear garden.

Beautiful established gum trees are a highlight of the outlook from this light-filled kitchen, dining and lounge area, which is anchored by a cosy wood fireplace.

Stacker sliding doors run down both sides of the living room, creating direct access to both the grassed back yard on one side and a large deck for outdoor entertaining on the other.

A large built-in seat that wraps around a fire pit connects the two outdoor zones, creating yet another conversation space.

The main bathroom has a bath and frameless shower.

The main bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite.

There’s a choice of places to relax outside.

“All the bedrooms are at the front of the house and when you come around the corner the living area looks out the back yard and there’s the most beautiful gum trees,” the vendor said.

“You just feel like you are in a whole different world. We love it.

“My favourite thing is you can just sit on the couch and there’s windows you can look through into the yard.”

There’s also an adjoining rumpus room that creates a second hangout for young kids or teens.

A simple white palette with timber highlights extends throughout the home, including the kitchen which has stone benchtops, soft close cabinetry, an induction cooktop and electric oven.

The deck can comfortably host a crowd.

The kids can duck in and out.

Floating timber vanities add yet another a warm note to both the bathrooms.

The vendor said the home, between Highton and Waurn Ponds, felt central to everything.

“We are just around the corner from Porter Ave, I walk around and get a coffee every morning,” she said.

Hayeswinckle, Highton agent Michelle Winckle has scheduled the auction of 14 Fryers Rd, Highton for May 4 at 10am. Price hopes are $990,000 to $1.089m.
