Senior reporter and feature writer Victoria Laurie was bestowed the culture and arts report award at the WA Media Awards for her work in Business News.

Ms Laurie was awarded the A.H. Kornweibel Arts Prize for culture and arts reporting at the annual awards ceremony held at the Anzac Club on Saturday night.

That award recognises exceptional reporting on the arts and culture sector and honours the memory of celebrated music critic Albert H. Kornweibel.

She also won best freelance journalist for her submission titled “State of the Arts and Stolen Memories”, being work published in this masthead and others.

The WA-based freelance journalist, who was inducted into the WA Women's Hall of Fame in 2023, unpacked issues facing the state's underfunded arts sector in her feature article.
