The stars of Adelaide’s real estate profession shone bright at last night’s Real Estate Institute of South Australia’s annual Awards for Excellence, with one lesser-known agency taking home a swag of awards.

More than 500 guests celebrated the industry’s achievements at Adelaide Oval in an Enchanted Forest themed Gala Ball MCd by FIVEaa’s Stacey Lee and Nine News’ Tom Rehn.

Klemich Real Estate’s Matt Smith was presented with the Robert Torrens award – the highest honour that can be bestowed on a real estate professional in SA – and was also recognised as South Australian residential salesperson of the year, ahead of Simon Noakes of Noakes Nickolas, Mark Lands of Lands Real Estate and Allan Real Estate’s Brad Allan, who were each named silver award winners.

Zac Watts of Noakes Nickolas was named the metropolitan local residential salesperson gold award winner, with Ouwens Casserly’s Amity Dry taking out the silver, while Sylvia Presepio of First National Real Estate was crowned regional local residential sales person of the year.

It was also a big night for LJ Hooker Commercial Adelaide, which was named best commercial and industrial agency, and commercial and industrial property management agency, while Taarnby Real Estate repeated their solid performance of last year by taking home five gold medals, including for operational leadership, residential agency – small, property management agency – small, residential sales team, sustainability leadership – agency, as well as two other silvers and two bronzes.

REISA CEO Andrea Heading said the level of talent across the entire industry was immense, and that they had shone in particularly challenging conditions for both agents and consumers.

“Once again we had an enormous amount of entries across metro and regional South Australia, the calibre of competitors incredibly high and you are all to be congratulated given the intense scrutiny the real estate industry is facing, especially the property management sector, given the sweeping reforms implemented across the year and the ongoing pressure on properties available given the tight supply in the rental market,” she said.

Commercially we understand that Adelaide’s vacancy rate remains low at 2.2 per cent.

“A lack of new supply will ensure Adelaide’s vacancy rate remains well under historical benchmarks.

“And sales – we have continued to see buyer demand still outstripping supply, with a steadily increasing property median across the state.”
