The Israeli military (IDF) says it has killed a commander in the Hezbollah Radwan force's anti-tank missile unit in the al-Sultaniyah village in southern Lebanon.

The militant group's commander was Riad Rida Ghazzawi, the IDF said in a statement released on Monday.

Meanwhile, Israeli air strikes have killed at least 10 Palestinians in Gaza on Monday, with seven dead in an attack on two houses in the north Gaza town of Beit Lahiya and three fatalities in a strike on a house in Nuseirat camp in the enclave's centre, medics told Reuters.

Several people were wounded in both attacks, they said, adding that Israeli forces had sent tanks into the north east of Nuseirat camp earlier on Monday.

Israel deployed tanks into Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahiya this year on October 5, saying it intended to prevent Hamas from regrouping.

The IDF have been accused of targeting schools and camps for displaced people in Gaza, but it has always denied the claims, maintaining it is targeting Hamas militants.

The health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza said on Monday that at least 43,374 people have been killed in the year-long war between Israel and Palestinian militants.

The toll includes 33 deaths in the previous 24 hours, according to the ministry, which said 102,261 people have been wounded in the Gaza Strip since the war began when Hamas militants attacked Israel on October 7, 2023.

There was no confirmation on the figure from the territory's health ministry and Israel has repeatedly accused the Hamas media office of exaggerating the figures of the dead.

Israel said its forces have killed hundreds of Palestinian gunmen and dismantled military infrastructure in Jabalia in the past month.

Germany has called on Israel to let more humanitarian aid into north Gaza, where a lack of supplies has led to a "desperate" and "unbearable" situation, a spokesperson for the German foreign ministry said on Monday.

"We call on the Israeli government urgently to meet its responsibilities under international law," the spokesperson told a news conference in Berlin.

"Israel has the right to self defence against Hamas within the framework of humanitarian international law," he added.

The spokesperson was responding to a question about an ultimatum set by Washington for Israel to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza this month or face potential restrictions on US military aid.
