Troye uses his acceptance speech to share an anecdote.
"I was going through a break-up and was really really depressed," he says.
"I meet a guy and have a one-night stand with him and have this incredible connection."
Troye describes how it made him realise how many people were in the world and the different connections he could have
"I write this album about this random stranger I never saw again," Troye says.
"Until I was at a wine bar in Melbourne."
Troye says he told the guy the album was about him.
"He looked very confused, he said 'the craziest thing is, I'm going through a break-up and the album is getting me through a break-up'."
He finishes the speech with a piece of advice:
"Go have a one-night stand with someone, you'll never know what could happen."
