Queensland police have charged a man who they will allege made online threats towards a Jewish community centre in Victoria.
Detectives from the Counter-Terrorism Investigation Group (CTIG) allege the 52-year-old posted verbal threats to social media on Saturday.
The Holland Park man was located in the Yarraman State Forest on Saturday night, where he was arrested and had his phone seized.
He has been charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence and will appear in court next month.
Police said investigations indicated the man was not involved with the arson of a Melbourne synagogue on December 6.
That attack is now being treated as an act of terror, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visiting the Adass Israel Synagogue in Ripponlea today.
In a statement, Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said the Queensland arrest was being treated as "extremely serious".
"The Queensland Police Service is absolutely committed to making sure that every Queenslander and people from minority groups feel safe," he said.
"They have that right and we are committed to supporting them.
"We have an excellent relationship with the Jewish community here in Queensland, we remain in dialogue with them and committed to making sure they are properly supported."
Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
