Police in New South Wales have found a convicted killer who went missing from the state's central west earlier this week.

Michael Aller, 58, went missing from Orange on Wednesday but police confirmed on Saturday he had been found.

In a statement, police said Aller had been taken to hospital for "admission and assessment".

Aller was found guilty of manslaughter in 2015 for killing his girlfriend Amy Aiton during an argument in 2012.

Aller was on bail at the time for domestic violence related offences.

He was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison over her death.

He was located after police sent geo-targeted text messages to people within the Orange district on Thursday night calling for help to find Aller.
