This Boxing Day period – meaning the six days after Christmas – it’s predicted Australian shoppers will spend $3.7 billion at the shops, a rise of 2.7 per cent on last year, with the majority of purchases across food, household goods and clothing, according to new data from the Australian Retailers Association and Roy Morgan.

And there’s no need to wait for Boxing Day. Many of the best bargains are already on sale. Did someone say “IOU Christmas gift”, at 30 per cent off?
