A passenger plane's landing gear collapsed during touchdown after coming down heavily on the runway due to strong winds in Amsterdam.

The Flybe plane, flying from Edinburgh to Schiphol Airport, touched down hard on its right side with its propellers scraping against the runway's surface.

The plane came to a leaning halt with one wing touching the runway.

All 59 passengers were safely evacuated and did not suffer any injuries.

Flight operation has since resumed, the airport's account tweeted.
