Hundreds of English Bulldogs — and their owners — have come together in Mexico City in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest number of the breed concentrated in one place.
With 950 bulldogs and their owners participating, organisers said they had achieved the numbers needed to break the record.
The next step is to send the necessary documents to Guinness World Records to obtain the record title.
"The requirement for the Guinness [World] Record was that they are English Bulldogs, older than one year, and that's what we did," organiser Erick Hernandez said.
The event included a walk of less than a kilometre to the Revolution Monument.
There, the dogs took a break after the short stroll, while their owners, who travelled from various Mexican states, helped them cool down from the hot weather with water and umbrellas.
Bulldog owner Gabriela Olmedo said of her dog: "She did it, she didn't lie on the floor, she didn't cry. It appears that she really liked it."
Another participant, Claudio Alvarez, said the breed had a unique charm.
"Having someone to take care of, to treat in a special way, because it's a special breed that needs a lot of care, makes it so that you have an even greater connection with him," he said.
