Nick Kyrgios has put his most recent on-court incident to the side to beat Donald Young in the second round of the ATP World Tour event in Acapulco.

Kyrgios, seeded sixth in Mexico and now ranked 17 in the world, comfortably beat Young 6-2, 6-4 in 72 minutes to move through to the quarter-finals, a day after a controversial victory over Israeli Dudi Sela in the first round.

The Australian swore at Sela's supporters in the crowd, allegedly telling them to "shut the f***k up" during a service game, while also gesturing to the group in a mocking fashion at the end of the match.

Sela confronted Kyrgios moments later when leaving the court and a heated exchange followed, with a match official intervening in an attempt to calm the two players down.

The incident came only days after Kyrgios swore at the chair umpire in his semi-final loss to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at the Open 13 in Marseille.

Kyrgios was refused the chance to challenge a line call, inciting a claim that umpires were biased against the 21-year-old.

"I've seen referees wait five, six seconds after the ball's gone out," Kyrgios said.

"For them it's OK but when I do it once, it's not OK. You guys are biased as s***t."

Kyrgios had met Young after the American had advanced with a defeat of Bernard Tomic when the Australian retired during the second set citing "unbearable heat".

Tomic had lost the first set to Young in a tie-break before withdrawing from the match.

The withdrawal without apparent injury appeared more questionable given the temperature in Acapulco was 27 degrees Celsius at the time - a far cry from the heat in places like Melbourne Park which can hit the 40s.

Tomic, who has slipped to a ranking of 41 in the world after reaching as high as 17 during 2016, has had a history of retiring from matches and pulled the pin during four ATP fixtures in 2016.

He also infamously holds the record for the fastest loss in ATP tournament history, going down to Finn Jarkko Nieminen in just 28 minutes back in 2014.
