A northern Tasmanian man accused of indecently assaulting a woman at the Falls Music Festival at Marion Bay is likely to contest the charge.

The 18-year-old from west Launceston was due to face the Launceston Magistrates Court this morning but did not appear.

His lawyer told the court his client was a university student in Melbourne and would be travelling to Launceston at the end of March for a hearing in the Magistrates Court on a charge of failing to give way at a roundabout.

He said his client would enter a plea of not guilty to the charge of indecent assault on that occasion.

Police will allege the man indecently assaulted a woman by putting his hand between her legs and groping her buttocks and genitals on December 30, 2016.

The case was adjourned until March 30.

Another man who is accused of assaulting a woman at the festival in a separate incident faced the Magistrates Court in Burnie on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old from Penguin did not enter pleas to two counts of assault with indecent intent.

He was ordered to return to court on May 1.
