One person has been killed and at least 15 injured in a shooting at a nightclub in Cincinnati, Ohio, police say.
Gunfire erupted inside the crowded Cameo Night Club about 1:30am on Sunday (local time), authorities said, adding that there was no indication the incident was terrorism-related.
Authorities believe a conflict began earlier in the day that led to the shooting, Cincinnati city manager Harry Black said in a news release.
Assistant Police Chief Paul Neudigate tweeted that there was only one reported shooter but said they were investigating whether others were involved.
Police had earlier said "at least a couple of shooters" were involved.
Captain Kim Williams said there was "just a lot of chaos" when the shots rang out.
"Saturday night, it is a very young crowd. We have had incidents here in the past, but this is by far the worst," Captain Williams said.
Several officers were working security detail at the club and performed first aid and tried to revive the person that died, she said.
Some shooting victims drove themselves to nearby hospitals and others were taken by ambulance.
Local media reported at least one person was in a critical condition.
Authorities are interviewing several witnesses, but Captain Williams said a lot of the clubgoers had left.
"The biggest problem when you have a large crowd like this and the shots ring out, a lot of the witnesses disappear," she said.
Police said they would give an official update after 2:00am AEDT.
Cameo's Facebook profile says it caters to college students on Friday nights, when anyone over 18 is allowed in, while Saturdays are "grown and sexy night" for ages 21 and over.
