PRESIDENT Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, has told the FBI and congressional officials investigating the Trump campaign’s potential ties to Russia that he is willing to be interviewed in exchange for immunity from prosecution, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The report cites officials with knowledge of the matter. Flynn’s lawyer, Robert Kelner, declined to comment, the Journal said. Reuters could not independently confirm the report.

Flynn, who was fired in February for failing to disclose talks with Russia’s ambassador before Trump took office about US sanctions on Moscow, has made the offer to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the House and Senate intelligence committees through his lawyer but has so far found no takers, the Journal reported.

TOP AIDE QUITS WHITE HOUS E

Meantime, a top aide to President Trump is leaving his administration.

Two senior White House officials said this morning that Deputy Chief of Staff Katie Walsh is leaving her job.

The officials were not authorised to speak before a formal announcement is made and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Ms Walsh has been Chief of Staff Reince Priebus’s top lieutenant for years now, working as his right hand both at the Republican National Committee and now at the White House.

Despite her low profile, she has become a key player in the administration’s inner circle and has grown close to the president in recent months.

It is unclear whether or not she has been asked to leave.

America Talks reported last month that Ms Walsh was the source of leaks to the New York Times.

However, she is believed to be moving to the pro-Trump non-profit America First Policies, a group formed in January by six of Mr Trump’s key supporters.

A senior Administration official said that the White House realised during the fight over health care that having more organised outside efforts could help.

It is unclear what the departure means for Mr Priebus, whom some have blamed for Mr Trump’s early failures, including the collapse of the Republican health care plan.
