Trainer Chris Waller is enjoying another successful season. Picture: Jenny Evans

THE Daily Telegraph’s racing editor Ray Thomas believes the old firm of trainer Les Bridge and jockey Tim Clark are set for another trip to the winner’s circle at Warwick Farm.

The pair will combine with Pelorus Jack in race two on the seven-race card. The three-year-old just missed out on a first-up victory last stat but can atone here over 1300m.

Check out Ray’s extended preview and best bets for Sydney’s feature midweek meeting.

RACE 1 (1pm)

This juvenile race looks an open race and I am going for value here with 5. BULLET SHOT. Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Bullet Shot ran only sixth on debut at Kembla Grange but arguably he should have won the race. The well-bred Redoute’s Choice colt was held up for most of the straight and looked very unlucky. He is certain to appreciate getting out to 1300m and is value at $11. 2. BIDWEE looks hard to beat. He was game in defeat at Wyong, should get the run of the race and is ready to win. 8. EASY GO EASY WIN ran a blinder on debut at Canterbury, finishing hard for third with this race’s favourite 15. SAMBRO fourth and both rate among the main contenders.

BETTING STRATEGY: BULLET SHOT each way.

RACE 2 (1.40pm)

4. PELORUS JACK came between runners and looked set to score but was edged out by Wayanka when resuming at Canterbury. He will strip fitter for that first-up effort and the step up to 1300m is no issue. Cordero was third in that Canterbury race and he has won easily at Newcastle since to frank the form. 8. LOVELETTER is the only danger. She worked home well out wide when fourth to Slow Burn and Noire in a strong form race last start. The firm track conditions are in her favour. 3. HE’S BLESSED bumped into the smart Memes on debut and 5. Aurora Rose resumes off a long spell but she can sprint well.

BETTING STRATEGY: Quinella 4, 8

RACE 3 (2.20pm)

Expect a genuine staying test here which suits 7. ZAVEENA. She will settle back but has a powerful finish as she demonstrated when charging home late for a close third at Wyong last start. She had won her previous two starts and is in great form. Zaveena gets in very well at the weights with only 52.5kg after apprentice Blaike McDougall’s claim and she proved last start she is not just a wet-tracker. 4. NO RETURN continues to race very consistently without winning but he does have the genius of Hugh Bowman to guide him home. 1. PARAGON is a grinding on-pace stayer but he has a lot of weight and prefers a wet track. 3. MULTITUDE is a query at 2200m.

BETTING STRATEGY: Quinella 4, 7

RACE 4 (3pm)

1. MEDAILLE was absolutely brilliant winning at Newcastle second-up, accelerating impressively from well back to eventually put nearly five lengths on her rivals. She shouldered 60.5kg with ease last start, albeit against weaker opposition and she carries a kilo less today over a course and distance where she has won previously. There is good speed up front here which suits this filly who is so much better on a firm racing surface. 8. WALK THE STREETS is resuming here but her maiden win last start back in January was very good as she was three-wide and exposed throughout but still won with authority. Promising filly who trialled very well at Warwick Farm going into this race. 9. ZONK won impressively first-up then was disappointing at Wyong. She is worth another chance. 7. SOIREE won well when resuming and I have no knock on the game 5. WHITE MOSS.

BETTING STRATEGY: MEDAILLE to win

RACE 5 (3.35pm)

I can’t understand why 2. ROMNEY’S CHOICE is out to $11. She is a good mare who excels fresh with two wins from three previous first-up attempts. Romney’s Choice trialled well at Hawkesbury five weeks ago and is drawn to get the soft run from her inside barrier. Significantly, she gets into this race only 2kg over the limit after the apprentice’s claim — she is throw in on her best form. 9. WINGS was held up at a vital stage in the straight but once she found clear galloping room she finished powerfully to win at Canberra. She is at $21 and is also way over the odds. 5. COUNTESS MARINOV is always thereabouts and 1. WAHNG WAH comes off a determined comeback win.

BETTING STRATEGY: Box trifecta nos 1, 2, 5, 9 and ROMNEY’S CHOICE each way.

RACE 6 (4.10pm)

Another open race but I think 6. PALLADIAN can improve enough to win. He ran only sixth when resuming behind 1. DISSOLUTE at Wyong but his run was better than it looked. Palladian didn’t have a lot of galloping room close to the rail in the straight and wasn’t fully tested to the line. He is a winner of the Warwick Farm 1100m course, too. 2. MAGICAZ struggled on rain-affected going so forget she went around at Canterbury last start. She has won two of her three races at Warwick Farm. Dissolute did get all the breaks at Wyong but he was very strong to the line. 9. TIMING is trialling well.

BETTING STRATEGY: Box trifecta nos 1, 2, 3, 6, 9

RACE 7 (4.45pm)

I liked the way 15. VAIN ELAINE attacked the line at Kembla Grange last start when a close third to Tumultuous. She is at her peak after three runs from a spell and gets her preferred good racing surface. She is the value runner in another deep race. 2. THE GAVEL was finishing very strongly late when resuming at Canterbury and will appreciate getting out to 1600m. 5. MONASTERIO had the flashing light on him after his short neck second when resuming and it is no surprise he has come up as favourite. 3. MISS BALLANTINE has struggled on wet tracks in both starts this time in but can improve sharply back on top of the ground.

BETTING STRATEGY: VAIN ELAINE each way

RAY THOMAS’S BEST BETS

WARWICK FARM

BEST BET: PELORUS JACK (Race 2, No. 4)

Produced a fine return when a close second to Wayanka at Canterbury. The form out of that race has been franked with minor placegetter Cordero winning his next start. Pelorus Jack is fitter and will appreciate the firmer track conditions today.

NEXT BEST: MEDAILLE (Race 4, No. 1)

She unleashed a lethal burst of acceleration to come from back in the field to sweep past her rivals and win by nearly five lengths at Newcastle. The Godolphin filly could not have been more impressive last start, she is a winner over this course and distance, and can continue her form surge.

BEST VALUE: ROMNEY’S CHOICE (Race 5, No. 2)

This underrated mare is way over the odds at $11. She did have a slight setback after a very sharp barrier trial at Hawkesbury but she is dynamic fresh and should get a soft run from her inside gate. She is very well in at the weights after the apprentice’s claim. Great each-way value.

EXOTICS

Race 2 — Quinella, Nos. 4, 8

Race 3 — Box Trifecta, Nos. 1, 3, 4, 7

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW: HUGH BOWMAN

Has another excellent book of rides, with all but one of his six mounts disputing favouritism. His mounts Sambro (race 1), Good Time Charlie (race 6) and Monasterio (race 7) head betting.

TRAINER TO FOLLOW: LES BRIDGE

Bridge is only taking three runners to Warwick Farm but he could head back to his Randwick base with a brace of winners. He has favourite Pelorus Jack and the improving Gaytime Girl clashing in race 2, while Zonk looks hard to beat in race 4.
