An Auckland man has been charged with stealing rabbits following a spate of bunny thefts across the city.

The 48-year-old appeared in the Auckland District Court on Friday, facing 22 charges of burglary.

All of the charges related to the theft of 15 rabbits across the suburbs of Mount Albert, Blockhouse Bay and Massey in 2016.

The man was granted interim name suppression.

He was remanded in custody without plea, to appear in court again later this month.
