Pilot captures incredible images of lightning storms from the cockpit. Photo: Santiago Borja/2016 National Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year

EVER wondered what a storm looked like when you’re flying in a plane at 35,000 feet through the sky? It’s just as majestic as you could have imagined.

Santiago Borja is a pilot for a major South American airline and has given us a glimpse of what a storm looks like from the pointy end. When he is off-duty, of course.

Based in Ecuador, his job often involves flying over regions that experience amazing natural phenomenon, and lucky for us, he decided to make a side hustle capturing it all.

Take a look at Mother Nature in all her glory.
