Doing this on a bus in Vienna will not end well

IF you’re going abroad with your other half or even considering getting lucky with a holiday romance this summer, you might want to brush up on your local laws before the flight.

Something as innocent as a cheeky snog on a bus journey could see you slapped with a hefty fine or even end up in jail in another country.

Whether they are archaic laws from yesteryear or new legislation enforced by governments over the past few years, there are some weird rules surrounding sex and PDAs across the globe.

For instance, did you know that it’s illegal to have sex on a motorbike in London and that even a kiss on the lips could get you landed in prison in India?

The Sun has rounded up some of the weirdest sex laws across the world below.

Kissing on public transport in Vienna, Austria

You can’t kiss on public transport in Vienna.

In 2013, the company that runs Vienna’s public transport system started to charge passengers who were caught canoodling with a 50 euro fine ($75.95).

They said that they made the decision after being inundated with complaints about amorous passengers.

No porn in Nepal

Films depicting sexual intercourse or full frontal nudity are banned in Nepal — even Bollywood movies, which are considered tame by western standards, have large chunks removed before hitting the market.

The government also censors all websites.

The Home Ministry said that it has had to enforce the ban because young people are addicted to porn.

Having sex on a motorbike in London, England

In London it is illegal to have sex on a parked motorbike. So no recreations of Kim and Kanye’s dodgy Bound 2 video allowed.

This law comes from the post WW2 period, when ex-soldiers came back to the UK with military motorbikes and celebrated their freedom by getting overly amorous with their lady friends.

Men are blameless for adultery in Egypt

If a wife is found to have committed adultery in Egypt, she gets two years in prison.

But if a husband is caught cheating then he only gets six months in prison, and he’s only liable for punishment if he does it in the family home.

Kissing in public in India

Kissing isn’t expressly illegal in India but many people have been fined for it under the Section 294 of the Indian Penal Code that says “whoever, to the annoyance of others, a) does any obscene act in any public place, or b) sings, recites or utters any obscene songs, ballad or word, in or near any public place, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three months, or with a fine, or with both.”

The actor Richard Gere even had a warrant issued for his arrest when he kissed Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty at an AIDS event in 2007.

No hugging in public in Qatar

Qatar is a strict Muslim country with a severe code of behaviour that tourists often fall foul of.

While the rules have relaxed in recent years, any displays of affection are frowned upon in public places, including holding hands.

Kissing and hugging in public can also both land you in legal trouble.

Dildos are worse than hand guns in Texas

It has been widely reported on the internet that it is illegal to own more than six dildos in Texas.

While there doesn’t appear to be any evidence of this exact ruling, Texas is definitely has a very weird attitude towards the sex toys.

In 1973, the Texas Legislature passed a law that prohibited the sale or promotion of “Obscene device[s]” mean[ing] a device including a dildo or artificial vagina, designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs.”

Bizarrely though, Texans don’t even need to do a background check on someone buying a handgun.

In 2016, students at the University of Texas protested a new state law that made the carrying of concealed handguns legal in college classrooms by openly displaying dildos, an act considered illegal under local indecency laws.

Being naked in a hotel room in Singapore

In Singapore a person can even get arrested for walking around their hotel room naked.

The law, which came into force in 1996, says that a person cannot be naked in a private place while being exposed to public view.

If they are, they could pay a fine or even end up in prison.

Sex outside marriage in Dubai

All sex outside marriage is illegal in Dubai, irrespective of any relationship you may have with your partner in the UK.

Same-sex marriages are also not recognised and all homosexual sex is illegal.

It’s against the law to live together, or to share the same hotel room, with someone of the opposite sex to whom you aren’t married or closely related.

You run the risk of prosecution, imprisonment and/or a fine and deportation.
