Massachusetts State Police said a crash that injured 10 pedestrians near Boston's airport did not appear to be an intentional act.
A taxi struck the pedestrians in a taxi-queuing area on Monday afternoon (local time) near Logan International Airport in East Boston.
A police official said the crash was believed to be a case of "operator error" in which the 56-year-old driver stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake.
The person was not authorised to comment on the record and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
State police spokesman David Procopio said 10 people were injured, some seriously.
Video of the scene showed a white cab with front end damage at rest against a building and near some picnic tables.
Mr Procopio said based on the preliminary investigation, "there is no information that suggests the crash was intentional".
