Greater Western Sydney forward Toby Greene is again in hot water after being reported for striking Richmond star Alex Rance at the MCG on Sunday.

Greene went in the book following a first quarter incident in which he planted a forearm into the face of the gun Tigers backman while holding part of Rance's jumper.

Rance reacted as though he had been struck, but did not look to be injured in the incident.

However in light of the AFL's stated crackdown on jumper punches earlier this year, the Giant may not avoid another suspension.

A crafty goalsneak, Greene has also been a regular antagonist. He escaped sanction for headbutting Sydney's Isaac Heeney in round five following two fines earlier in the year, but was suspended for two matches in round six for striking Western Bulldogs midfielder Caleb Daniel.

If the incident is deemed to be of sufficient force, Greene's hit on Sunday will likely be categorised intentional and low impact to the head, meaning a base sanction of two matches that cannot be reduced with an early guilty plea because of the All-Australian's history.

Vying for a top-two finish, the Giants face Fremantle in Sydney and Melbourne in Canberra in coming weeks.
