An after-market battery may have caused a laptop to explode, sparking a fire and injuring a woman.
The explosion took place in a home on Prospect Hill Road, Canterbury around midnight on Sunday. It caused numerous spot fires in a bedroom.
A woman in her 20s was injured but did not require hospitalisation, according to the Metropolitan Fire Brigade.
It appears the laptop was left on continuous charge, causing it to overheat.
Pictures provided by the MFB on Monday show the exploded computer parts and damage to the floor and furniture.
Fire Investigators were at the scene on Monday.
The MFB recommends people only purchase genuine computer components and follow manufacturers' instructions.
Laptop batteries made of lithium ion can explode from a process called "thermal runway".
It is unclear which make or model of laptop or battery was involved in the fire.
