HOT on the heels of the sale of former Channel Seven boss David Leckie’s mansion for more than $10 million, eastern suburbs homeowners are lining up to sell.

The Agency’s Ben Collier yesterday confirmed he made the sale of the grand Centennial Park mansion, that Mr Leckie and charity queen wife Skye initially listed at more than $11 million last July.

But he was gearing up to give it a fresh push.

“We were about to do a campaign, getting the gardens redone, about to get it painted and we took a number of people through beforehand and it sold last Friday,” Mr Collier said.

He wouldn’t confirm the identity of the buyer, except to say it was a “local”.

The 1906-built Lactura went to auction last September, passing in on a vendor bid of $10.5 million.

Pop star Boy George had been staying in the mansion during his stint as a judge on The Voice, at almost $7000 a week.

The offloading of the Leckie home on a 1031 sqm Lang Rd block is the biggest Centennial Park deal since Mr Collier’s sale of entrepreneur Peter O’Connell’s home on an 835sqm Lang Rd block for $6.5 million in March. That was bought by sculptors Gillie and Mark Schattner.

The Centennial Park record stands at $12 million, set in 2015 when technology billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes bought Braelin.

Mr Collier said the top end continued to be strong, though he said there’d been a “marginal correction” this year for homes priced up to $3 million.

“Anything that’s appropriately priced has good interest,” he said.

Another top agent, Phillips Pantzer Donnelley agent Alexander Phillips arrived back from Europe this week to a flood of home appraisal requests.

Boy George celebrated his 56th birthday in Sydney on The Voice.

“I’ve got 18 homes to visit this week,” he said. “A lot of people want to sell … the mindset has changed from three years ago.

“The market’s shifting – now people want to sell before they buy.

“They don’t want to be stuck with two properties.”

That’s not what the Leckies did. They’d bought a Woollahra terrace for $9 million and then listed their Lang Rd mansion. Sources said they’d knocked back an offer of $11 million soon after.
