A West Australian father who admitted raping his daughter, forcing her to wear bondage and pimping her out to six other men has lost an appeal against his 22-and-a-half year sentence.

The 44-year-old man, who cannot be named, was the ringleader of the so-called "Evil 8" group that sexually abused the girl between 2013 and 2015, when she was aged between 11 and 13.

He pleaded guilty to 61 offences, and told police: "To be honest, it was fun while it lasted but it went way over the line."

The abuse included giving the girl a stupefying drug, watching others rape her and recording her while she was naked and in bondage.

In one incident, she was forced to wear a mask, gag and dog collar with the word "bitch" written on it.

As she struggled with the restraint, the girl pleaded with her father, saying: "Stop please, dad".

The sentencing judge in June last year described it as one of the worst cases of its type and noted the girl had continued to show loyalty to her father, which illustrated the extent of her vulnerability and trust.

The man took his case to the WA Court of Appeal, claiming his sentence was too long, but on Wednesday the matter was thrown out.

The judges said it was a case in a class of its own with a "very heavy sentence but for dreadful offences for which there is no true comparator".

"He ensured that the child was compliant with demands that were deviant and degrading," the judges said.

"He derived depraved pleasure from seeing her sexually abused by other men.

"The aggregate sentence, though high, was justified by the very serious circumstances."

A psychologist concluded that even with treatment it was highly unlikely the man could ever be considered a safe presence among children.

A psychiatrist noted there was evidence of denial and major cognitive distortions regarding the daughter's ability to be the man's "friend and partner".

"His offending was driven by his sexual interest in children in the context of a narcissistic and dependant personality structure," the psychiatrist said.

"The risk of sexual reoffending could only be negated by intensive treatment."

The man's earliest release date will be in October 2035.

Five other men have also been jailed over the girl's abuse, while another arrested in connection to the case was also dealt with by the courts but did not actually offend against the girl.

Another man is planning to fight allegations against him.
