CRAIGIEBURN has joined the million-dollar club, with a stunning six-bedroom house sold under the hammer for $1 million.
The palatial, two-level home at 42 Excelsior Heights was snapped up at a quick-fire auction on July 22 after bidding opened at a high $900,000.
The sale surpassed the previous record of $980,000, set in May for 69 Parkside Rise.
YPA Craigieburn’s managing director Khaled Khaled, whose company sold both properties, said three family bidders vied for 42 Excelsior Heights.
“The auction didn’t take long, going up by $20,000, $10,000 and $5000,” he said.

Mr Khaled said he had been expecting Craigieburn to chalk up its first $1 million dollar sale for the past year.
“The suburb is getting a lot of attention and attraction from elsewhere, with infrastructure including Splash Aqua Park, shopping centres and schools,” he said.
“As long as interest rates stay as they are, I think the market here will stay as it is.
“And there are buyers in the area who are happy to pay this money.”
The 510sq m house on a 752sq m block includes a pool and gazebo in the rear yard. Inside, the handcrafted kitchen has stone benchtops, an industrial range hood and Italian oven with an induction gas cooktop. A gas log fire warms the family and dining area.
CoreLogic figures show Craigieburn’s median house price rose 10.6 per cent to $440,000, in the 12 months to April. This is based on 939 houses sold in this period.
