A Brisbane man has walked free from court after an extraordinary outburst in which he called a magistrate a "f---ing c---" and swore at police.

The Director of Public Prosecutions was applying to put Barry Bernard Harvey, 52, back behind bars, alleging he had breached his bail conditions.

Mr Harvey became abusive from the beginning of the hearing on Wednesday morning, shouting over the magistrate repeatedly as she tried to carry out the hearing.

"Please don't interrupt me when I'm explaining the situation," he said early on, before his language became more vile.

Mr Harvey went on to call magistrate Elizabeth Hall a "f---ing c---" and a "f---ing injudicious biased magistrate".

"Sit down dickhead," he said to one police officer, calling another one a "f---ing dog".

Two security guards and extra police were on hand in the Roma Street courthouse for the hearing, which had to be adjourned briefly at one point after Ms Hall said "I'm not going to put up with this any more".

When the court resumed, Mr Harvey's outbursts continued but he was not held in contempt of court or brought back into custody.

Ms Hall said she would not revoke bail on the DPP's submissions, which had been vehemently contested by Mr Harvey.

The DPP alleged he had contacted someone he was prohibited from speaking to three times and could no longer reside at his bail address.

Mr Harvey is accused of a long list of offences, including wilful damage, public nuisance and stalking.

Ms Hall adjourned the matter to 2pm on Wednesday, saying the defendant's behaviour was intolerable.

After the adjournment, Mr Harvey appeared much calmer, agreeing to have his bail conditions changed to live at a different location. The DPP dropped its application to revoke bail.

Magistrate Hall offered him a chance to apologise to the court but he refused.
