A BRIGHTON family is opting out of the bayside suburb and moving to a large Frankston South property with resort-style features.

And they are not the only ones moving south.

Buyers coming from suburbs nearer the city are pushing up prices of prestige homes in well-regarded Frankston South, local agents said.

One of the latest was 3 Rosedale Grove. The luxury home had local interest between $1.3 million and $1.4 million, but a buyer from Brighton made the $1.55 million top offer.

“We had several offers from buyers from closer to the city and all the offers were above $1.5 million,” McEwing & Partners director Quentin McEwing said.

“They were all outsiders keen to move down to the peninsula.”

Frankston South is sought-after for its tree-lined streets, proximity to the water and schools, as well as a family friendly ambience.

Agents said outside buyers were more willing to bid or pay more for Frankston South properties as they were attractively priced compared to homes in the inner and bayside suburbs.

The Rosedale Grove home is on a large, peaceful block.

Mr McEwing said the Rosedale Grove property on a 2666sq m block attracted plenty of interest due to its position and quality.

The 1994-built house features five bedrooms, a north-facing backyard, large swimming pool and outdoor entertainment area, three living zones and a triple garage.

“It is a good home in a tightly held spot on a level block,” he said.

“The home also offers full visibility of the pool and backyard from the kitchen and living area which is something attractive for families.”

The property last sold in 2005 for $835,000, CoreLogic records show.
