A REAL estate agent hopes to raise $13,000 from a Carrum Downs auction to help a local cancer survivor and amputee.

Craig Rowell needs funds for an ‘osseointegration’ procedure by renowned Sydney surgeon Dr Munjed Al Muderis.

It will involve placing a titanium implant which improves the quality of life of amputees by mimicking the human anatomy.

“I have known Craig for over 10 years and have seen what he has had to go through and I have an opportunity to help,” Donovan Real Estate director Shane Donovan said.

Craig Rowell is hoping to have a new type of prosthetic leg fitted.

Supporters have set a $60,000 target to help pay for the operation and a new type of prosthetic leg for the Carrum Downs resident.

Mr Donovan is donating his commission from the October 14 auction of 2B Edenbridge Court, a new three-bedroom house with a $520,000-$572,000 price guide.

Mr Rowell’s cancer journey began in 2010 which resulted in an above-knee amputation of his left leg in 2011 to help save his life.

Last year, he received news that he will only need to see the doctors every 12 months after battling lung cancer.

Mr Rowell was recently accepted as a candidate for the groundbreaking procedure for a prosthetic leg, which will also aid in the eradication of walking aids, medication and phantom pain or ongoing pain coming from the part of the limb that has been amputated.

The operation will cost $40,000 and the prosthetic leg could cost between $30,000 and $80,000.
