An indoor snow sports and adventure centre, being the only one of its kind, has secured premises on the Northside of Brisbane.

Following the strong run of leasing deals completed by Savills in recent months, Urban Xtreme Adventures has committed to a seven year initial term at Hendra and is expected to open prior to Christmas.

Savills Associate Director Industrial & Business Services Shaw Harrison has leased the Goodman owned asset at 370 Nudgee Road, Hendra.

Urban Xtreme has only just received its development approval from Brisbane City Council which sets the path to transform the existing warehouse into a sport and recreation adventure centre.

“The 5,523sq m building includes office, a high bay warehouse plus an additional large mezzanine deck overlooking the new adventure arena, which is earmarked to be one of the best new attractions in Brisbane,” Mr Harrison said.

The deal struck is for an initial term of seven years plus further options.

The concept of the indoor sporting facility is the brainchild of Lindsay Davis and her husband Darren Montgomery, who have a passion for snowboarding and keeping fit. After the couple saw the first mechanical snow sports simulator whilst back on vacation in their homeland of Ireland, the motions were in place.

Three years of planning, a couple of false starts on some other properties and now finally a development approval in place, the extensive fit-out is now underway in Hendra.

The adventure elements of the facility will also include a laser tag course designed by joining co-founder Ben Baker, plus trampolines, climbing walls and a ninja warrior course designed by Ninja Warrior’s own Lachlan Fyfe.

“We have assisted a number of sports and rec users to secure premises across Brisbane, and when we first spoke with Lindsay she was struggling to find a facility.

“We streamlined the building identification process and created a number of outstanding solutions for her to consider.

“It’s great to see Brisbane secure the first location for Urban Xtreme, and the first indoor snow centre in Australia,” Mr Harrison said.

CEO for Urban Xtreme, Lindsay Davis said that the hardest part for the business initially was selecting a property location and a building that met our requirements.

“Deciding whether to open on the North or South side of the river was difficult however the incredible 12 metre internal clearance of the Hendra facility plus the car parking and access made the decision easier.

“The other main drawcards for Urban Xtreme with the property was the main road frontage, separate driveway entry for customers, close proximity to the Gateway Motorway interchange, and great surrounding residential catchments.

“It is a building we just weren’t going to let slip through our fingers when we were offered the opportunity.

“We are truly grateful for all of the support from the many organisations that have helped us get ready for our launch, plus the interest from the public already has been enormous. We have already sold over 400 presale passes to customers from our website,” Ms Davis said.
