“We are so close to Stirling, but we’re in a little enclave, so you don’t hear anything.”

The family purchased the house in 2008 and named it Braeburn because of its similarity to Ms Cornwell’s ancestral home in Wellington.

Just a few minutes from Stirling’s high street and offering views across an established garden that includes a serene lily pond and seasonal creek, it was a case of love at first sight.

“We were looking for a chance to get out of the city, and we fell in love in the Hills.

“The appeal was to be able to get home at the end of the day and have the sense that we were in the country without having to travel there.”

Although the previous owners had engaged architects Swanbury Penglase to renovate and extend the original 1970s house, further improvements include a new kitchen, outdoor entertaining area and of course, the pool.

But after almost a decade of raising two children, hosting family weddings and parties, Ms Cornwell and her husband have decided it’s time to downsize and pursue a sea change.

“Five bedrooms and it’s just the two of us,” she laughs.

“We’ve loved it, but it’s time to move on.”
