A UNIQUE Lake St home on the market for the first time drew record crowds and sold for more than half a million dollars.
Ray White Cairns Central principal Angela Capitanio said 219 Lake St, a two-bedroom, two-bathroom bungalow in Cairns North attracted plenty of interest before selling at auction on Saturday for $670,000.
“We had about 70 people through the property for inspection and on auction day there were 70 people. We had 12 registered bidders and six of those made active bids during the process,” she said.
“The property sold under the hammer. It was amazing to see so many people turn out for the auction and so many register.
“It is an unusual home and it is close to the city. I had several phone calls after the auction from people who couldn’t make it or where out of the city for the weekend wanting to know how much it had sold for.”
Ms Capitanio said the “aesthetically appealing” home, featuring a soaring, peaked roof and spiral staircase at the front was a hit with many buyers hoping to put their “own stamp on it”.
On a 506 sqm allotment the property could be used as an office or facilities for those using medical services in Cairns.
The large kitchen is centrally located to internal and external dining spaces and a mezzanine level offers the perfect setting for relaxing.
The two bedrooms are large and the main offers an ensuite and walk in robe.
