Southern and central WA are bracing for the first strong cold front of the season, with severe weather expected to hit on Thursday evening.
Damaging wind gusts, heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely between Jurien Bay and Walpole, and the Bureau of Meteorology advised there was a chance of localised flash flooding.
Isolated gusts associated with the leading edge of the front may reach up to 125km/h or more, and rainfalls of up to 50mm are possible in the lower west, South West, and metro area.
Higher than normal tides are likely from Shark Bay to Windy Harbour.
Squally showers and thunderstorms will persist over central and southern parts of the state on Friday.
