57 Lenoak St, Gladstone Park

57 Lenoak St, Gladstone Park, took an unusual, but successful road to a sale.

AFTER five sleepless weeks yesterday was supposed to be Doriana Kalafatis’ chance to rest easy as her home went under the hammer.

It didn’t happen. There were buyers interested, but they weren’t at the auction — and the event was cancelled.

“It was completely nerve racking, I don’t think I have slept well in five weeks,” Ms Kalafatis said.

But after a grim, rainy start to her day the sun was shining a few hours later — and one of her buyers eventually turned up at the negotiating table.

The house sold for $631,000.

“Today is a huge relief, it’s like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” Ms Kalafatis said.

Ray White Gladstone Park’s Phillip Mercieca said the result at 57 Lenoak St was unusual.

“It happens, but not often,” Mr Mercieca said. “It shows that there are still buyers interested. Even if they’re not at the auction.”

A first-home buyer collected the keys to the four-bedroom house.

An outdoor entertainment space that links with the home’s second living room, as well as the 559sq m allotment had appealed to the buyer.

“It will be a great first-home for them,” Mr Mercieca said.

After four years there, Ms Kalafatis agreed.

“I always had a dream I would live in Gladstone Park, I grew up at my parents place in Campbellfield and always thought I would live near them,” Ms Kalafatis said.

“And I love the area, plus I was very lucky — I bought just before the market went up.”
