A STATEMENT house on the riverfront, this Regatta Pde residence combines elegance and enhanced functionality.

Del and Brian Hedger bought the block in 2002, drawn to its location and views over the river to the Surfers Paradise skyline.

The design and build took 12 months with the pair able to move into the property in 2002.

“It is a narrow block so we knew we had to go up but I didn’t want to walk through the front door and look at just a staircase,” Mrs Hedger said. “So because we’ve used glass right through, you can walk in the front door and see right down to the river underneath the staircase.”

Mrs Hedger described the style as “modern Asian” with a fusion of timber, limestone and glass throughout the two-level house.

The entrance foyer stands out with water features which blur the transition from outdoors to indoors while tropical gardens, a rooftop retreat and grand main bedroom with huge spa provide plenty of luxury throughout.

Mrs Hedger said it was hard to choose just one favourite feature.

“The living area is beautiful — we put in bi-fold doors and when you open that area up it’s just brilliant,” she said.

“The pool is heated so I spend a lot of time in the pool, and the top deck is also great for entertaining. I like to paint so I will often paint up there.”

The pair is selling to downsize and plans to spend more time with their family in Melbourne.
