The property has endless views over the countryside to Mt Macedon.

Keatings Real Estate’s Sandi Barry-Mueller said the property, which was also part of the Open Gardens Scheme, had generated strong interest from across Victoria and New South Wales.

“It is well-known for its appearance on the show, unique design and location,” she said.

The minimalist property was known as the Kyneton Flat Pack House when it featured on Grand Designs Australia in 2012.

“It is one of the area’s finest examples of modern architecture,” Ms Barry-Mueller said.

The architect-designed prefabricated modular home by Intermode displays a modern, sustainable construction in a simple T-shape configuration.

Glazed internal walls separate spacious living areas that embrace endless views over the Kyneton racecourse, township and Mt Macedon.

Glass walls separate living areas.

The house was built by the owners about nine years ago on Scotsman’s Hill, the site of a former bluestone quarry.

“The area was named Scotsman’s Hill because the local Scottish people used to sit up on there, drink beer and watch the races without having to pay entry fees,” Ms Barry-Mueller said.

The stained timber-clad house with clean lines and a flat roof is energy efficient with polished concrete floors that soak up the winter sun and full height doors that allow for easy cross ventilation.

It has floor-to-ceiling double-glazed windows, in-slab gas hydronic heating, solar hot water plus a 6.5kw solar to grid system.

The main bedroom flows out to a private deck.

A glass walkway leads to a living, kitchen and dining area that will please keen entertainers with its glass sliding doors to a deck under a shade sail.

The kitchen has quality appliances, while the bedrooms have built-in wardrobes and sliding doors to the decks.

An ideal outdoor entertainment area.

A breezeway-style study, European laundry, gas fireplace and cellar are also included.

The garden is the owners’ pride and joy with its stone walls, meandering paths, native and European trees, fruit trees on garden terraces, vegetable plots and sweeping lawns.

“Testimony to the owners’ green thumb, it’s a spectacular garden that cascades down the hill to Brocklebank Drive,” Ms Barry-Mueller said.

“The property is secluded by original elm trees and there are numerous sitting or contemplation areas.”
