Elliot Springs progress

Cowboys coach loves coming home to Elliot Springs, Townsville.

“We decided that for our family, Elliot Springs, location wise, ticked all the boxes,” she said.

“Both the children attend schools on the south side of town — Oonoonba State School and Southern Cross Catholic College.

“I work in the city and Ben works for the Cowboys, so he travels the furtherest, but with being close to the ring road the traffic is ‘no worries’ for him commuting to work each day on one main road.

Also, we actually love being that little bit out of town as you feel like you aren’t living on top of people.”

They first moved to Townsville five years ago and rented as they weren’t sure if it was a permanent move.

“Things have fallen into place for us, which is why we decided to make it more permanent,” Mrs Jeffries said.

Their first inspection of the street they now call home was only possible via four-wheel-drive.

“The amount of changes and development to the estate in such a short amount of time has been a real credit to the developers,” she said.

“We were one of the first families to move into the estate and, within a couple of months, we have started growing as a community and it seems like every few weeks another house is finished with a family moving in.”

Lendlease and the Touched by Olivia Foundation opened an inclusive play space, Livvi’s Place at Elliot Springs last year.

More than 30 per cent of the estate is set aside for open space, including rocky creek beds, or head to the hills for hiking and mountain biking adventures.

Closer to home, there are running trails and outdoor exercise equipment.

“We are a busy family with children who are active and need to be entertained,” Mrs Jeffries said.

“Elliot Springs offers so many activities right at your back door, the estate, as it continues to grow, has a real community feel to it.

“People walking their dogs around the streets, waving to people as you drive through the estate.

“This was what Ben and I were after.

“We plan to live in this home until the kids finish school.

“We built with Keir Constructions and Brad and the team were amazing and very easy to deal with; nothing was ever a trouble.

“Ben and I had decided on a few things that were a must, like a pool and an activities room for the kids so they could have their own space down the back of the house and we couldn’t hear them when they had friends over.”
