10 Ward St, Cheltenham has been transformed by its owners.

A dated Cheltenham pad transformed into a family dream home has resurfaced on the market with an impressive new look.

The modern abode at 10 Ward St was extensively renovated inside and out over the past three years before being relisted with a $1-$1.08 million price guide.

Buxton Mentone agent Trevor Bowen said the house was originally designed as the owner’s forever home, but they had to relocate for work.

An old brick facade has a new look.

The lounge room has been expanded after bedrooms were moved on the floorplan.

There’s plenty of space in the single-level abode.

“It’s been restumped, re-plumbed, rewired and reroofed … they basically updated from the ground up,” Mr Bowen said.

“They put in little features that don’t usually get included in a house which is designed to sell.”

CoreLogic shows the vendors purchased the house for $795,000 in 2016 when it was still a retro pad with wallpaper, colourful carpets and dated features.

An old-school kitchen was small and dated.

It’s now a large space with top-of-the-range appliances.

The owners relocated two of the three bedrooms to create an open-plan living room and large hotel-style bathroom.

They also added a brilliant entertainer’s deck with a kitchen servery window and low-maintenance lawn.

A backyard with a shed had little space to entertain.

Now it has plenty of hosting potential.

The central bathroom is another highlight, from the heated floor and towel rack to the oversized walk-in rain shower and freestanding soaker tub. Little details such as the herringbone-tiled splashback, a mirrored cabinet that opens in a winged arrangement, scalloped handles on the twin-basin vanity and a whitewashed timber-panelled feature wall add to the style and serenity.

Indulge in a hotel-style bathroom with heated floors.

The bathtub looks far more comfortable now.

Modern hardwood floorboards and a neutral paint palette of soft greys combined with crisp-white trims add to the modern appeal.

Mr Bowen said the owners were keen on adding tech features, including USB power-points, integrated speakers and Control4 smartwiring that controls music and lighting from a mobile phone.

The family abode is located in one of Cheltenham’s most popular areas, zoned to Mentone Girls’ and Parkdale secondary colleges.

It’s scheduled for auction on May 4.
