1. Facebook is launching its own cryptocurrency, Libra, in 2020. The cryptocurrency aims to provide fast, cheap and secure online payments by smartphone and users will need a government issued ID to be able to set up an account. Not surprisingly, the pushback has already begun. Here’s what else we know about Libra.

2. Digital driver’s licenses are on the way for New South Wales. Amid the roll out of the New South Wales Budget, State Treasurer Dominic Pettottet announced that he would make New South Wales the first state in the country with digital driver’s licences, not realising South Australia had already introduced them back in 2017.

3. The Matilda’s make it to the next round of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Australia has defeated Jamaica 4-1 and will take on Norway next.

4. Is Snap back? It appears Wall Street is getting on board for Snap’s turnaround plan as the company’s shares surged as much as 10% on Tuesday afternoon. “Snapchat has done a good job keeping expectations low, enabling them to outperform expectations,” BTIG analyst Richard Greenfield said.

5. A new report from the CSIRO has found that by 2060, Australia could become an ultra-modern nation with increased wages and powered by renewables. The catch? Australia must be willing to transform.

6. German Chancellor Angela Merkel was seen visibly shaking during a ceremony in Berlin, sparking concerns over her health. Merkel later dismissed the concerns, attributing the shaking to dehydration caused by the 28-degree heat.

7. Huawei laptops are back in the Microsoft store. In May, the laptops disappeared from the stores following a government ban on US companies doing business with Huawei. “We are resuming the sale of our existing inventory of Huawei devices at Microsoft Store,” Microsoft said in its statement to Business Insider.

8. A case of mistaken identity. While attempting to call out the US ABC network for reporting “fake news”, US President Donald Trump mistakenly tagged Australia’s ABC news site on twitter, prompting hilarious responses online. Australia’s national broadcaster responded to the tweet with a GIF of a koala saying ‘G’day’.

9. British company Gozney, creator of the portable, personal pizza oven Roccbox, is expanding to Australia using funds from a crowdfunding site. The company is backed by Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson and Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger.

10. Victoria’s voluntary assisted dying laws come to effect today. It will be available to Victorians over 18 years old with an incurable disease or a condition that creates unrelieved suffering. They must also be able to make sound decisions and give informed consent.
