  • NRMA has announced a partnership with transport comparison company Jayride that will see NRMA Blue Members pay a discounted fixed price for airport transfers.
  • The discount will be available from July 1.
  • Jayride helps protect against the surge in prices during airport travel.

Travelling to the airport just became cheaper … if you’re an NRMA member.

Travel comparison company Jayride Group has signed a deal with roadside assistance and insurance company NRMA to provide users a discount on thefixed-price rate of airport transfers around the world.

The agreement will see NRMA Blue members, which is a service available to NRMA members, get an undisclosed discount for transport transfers at more than 1,500 airports in 69 countries from July 1.

Through Jayride, users can compare and book fixed-price ground transfers with more than 3,000 transport companies (including ridesharing services) in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia and the Pacific.

While Jayride can’t publicly disclose the discount price, Head of Partnerships Milly Colahan, told Business Insider Australia that the amount “would substantially add value” to NRMA Blue Members.

“The advantage to NRMA Blue Members is they can pre-book … a transfer at a fixed price,” she said. “So then they don’t get affected by surge pricing or being ripped off when they get into, say, a foreign country, not knowing where to go or how far the airport is.

“They’ve got the safety of knowing that what they’ve booked at is the price that they’re going to pay at their destination.”

Jayride Co-founder and Managing Director Rod Bishop said in a statement that this partnership represents “another step forward” for the Sydney-based business. It was founded in 2012 and listed on the ASX in 2018. While it launched in the US in only 2015, the country already accounts for more than 50% of Jayride’s business, Proactive Investors reports.

NRMA Blue General Manager Michael Betteridge said, “We know our members love to travel, so it makes sense to grow our NRMA Blue offerings in the tourism space.”

NRMA Blue is a member benefits program that is included with all roadside assistance subscriptions or as a standalone benefit. Through it, members gain access to special deals at petrol stations, hotels, restaurants, car servicing, cafes and even on Spotify.

In Australia, the cost of travelling from the airport in a major city to the CBD by taxi could be anywhere from $37 (Adelaide Airport) to $112 (Melbourne Tullamarine), according to Flight Centre. With Uber, the prices are slightly cheaper.

The partnership will be for an initial six month period, with further collaboration between Jayride and NRMA companies to be explored afterwards.

The only thing left for you to do is pack your bags.
