Cricket legend Shane Warne is selling his Brighton wicket.
The spin king is rumoured to be quietly seeking a buyer with a budget of about $8 million for his luxurious Newbay Cres home, which was also owned by Essendon great Matthew Lloyd from 2006-15.
Warne bought the lavish, European-style home from private investigator Anthony Thompson last year.

At the time, it had a backyard pool and spa, an impressive basement home theatre with a bar, and a palatial main bedroom featuring a spa bath decorated with Doric columns.
CoreLogic records show he paid $5.4 million for the property, but it’s understood he has undertaken work to improve the home since moving in.
Rumours of his plans to sell add credit to speculation Warne is among the celebrity buyers headed to Tim Gurner’s ultra-luxury Saint Moritz development in St Kilda.
Sam Newman and real estate guru Antony Catalano are also on the list of famous faces linked to the development. Catalano paid close to $30 million for a double-storey penthouse.
A sale at Newbay Cres would add to a long list of Brighton homes offloaded by the cricketing great over the years, including the 32 Middle Cres mansion he raked in $18,888,888 for last year.
Warne owned that property twice, and sold it for substantial profits both times, CoreLogic records show.
In 2013, he collected $10.85 million for an 1885-built Italianate mansion at 6 William St he’d shared with actor ex Elizabeth Hurley. The home had Warne’s playing number, 23, emblazoned on the base of its pool.
He also sold a French-inspired mansion at 11 Kinane St for $5.35 million in 2016.
Top-end Brighton real estate agent Jonathan Dixon, who handled Warne’s last sale, refused to comment on the latest rumours.
The JP Dixon director previously told the Sunday Herald Sun Warne had chosen the Newbay Cres home as a convenient, lock-up-and-leave address to suit a lifestyle with significant travel.
The timing of the sale could be a further nod for the city’s property market, which experts have pegged to begin a slow recovery in the coming months.
