Kulnura avocado farm sold to Sydney retirees.

An avocado farm in Kulnura has sold to some Northern Beaches retirees for $1.595 million.

The property at 1160 George Downes Dr was snapped up a week after it hit the market, sold for the full asking price.

The large 17.64ha farm has been with the same family since 1939 and comes with around 2.8 hectares of mature avocado trees.

In 2016, smashed avo became a national symbol of how unattainable the Aussie dream of home ownership had become after KPMG analyst Bernard Salt famously warned Millennials that they would never save home deposits if they kept ordering expensive avo breakfasts.

Millennial’s who love a smashed avo cafe breakfast will no doubt be envious of the lucky buyers, who plan to keep and maintain the avo crop.

With just under 4ha of cleared land, the property also comes with an original house from the 1980s and untouched natural bushland at the back.

The brick veneer house has three bedrooms and an iron roof, which requires some renovation.

Selling agent Michael Kidd from Michael Kidd Property Sales Kulnura said that the settlement period for farmland like this can be quite lengthy, but the buyer had put down a 10 per cent deposit a week after it hit the market.

“They plan to tidy up the avo crops, plant more fruit trees and do up the house,” he said.
