Ray White Semaphore selling agent Peter Kikianis said the former naval base was a historic building for the area.
“It was used as a drill hall and was converted into apartments about 17 years ago,” he said.
Advertised with a price guide of $350,000, Mr Kikianis said the property attracted a variety of buyers through the first open.
“We’ve been on the market for over a week and we’ve had numerous people inspect the property,” he said.
“We had 25 groups through the first open with four offers. I even had a client flying in from Melbourne and a woman flying in from Canberra. Quirky properties definitely attract people, it’s a certain type of buyer – but this property offers it all.”
Mr Kikianis said buyers found the uniqueness a “stand out” and were particularly attracted to the fact the apartment was built into “a historic, heritage listed building”.
“Plus, it’s just around the corner from all the new developments in the Port,” he said.
The lower level of the home features a lounge, powder room and an open-plan kitchen, dining and kitchen area, with a neat back porch overlooking the warehouse.
Head upstairs to find two bedrooms, the second opening out to a private balcony, and a spacious bathroom. Take another flight of stairs and find the rooftop entertaining area, perfect for impromptu parties with friends.
Mr Kikianis said the mix of character and industrial features made the property a stand out.
“Once you’re in the property, it has a real mix of character and industrial type features – that’s what people love,” he said.
Birkenhead has a median house price of $413,000 and has experienced a 14.7 per cent increase over the last three years, according to CoreLogic.
