A couple not only bought their first home but also a venue for their upcoming garden wedding.
The duo, engaged to be married and renting closer to the city, had checked out the garden before bidding on 37 Rathmullen Rd, Boronia.
They outlasted four other aspiring owner-occupiers with a winning bid of $783,000 which was more than $60,000 above reserve.

The couple made the first and last bids for the four-bedroom, two bathroom home described as a stylish house with a beautiful garden and spacious backyard.
It has a covered deck, barbecue gazebo, hedging, citrus trees and a double garage with a workshop and had been renovated by a previous owner.
“The buyer was getting instructions from his dad who had flown up to Queensland on the morning of the auction,” Ray White Ferntree Gully agent Blayze Fatchen said.
“He could watch the auction as it was live streamed.”
The buyer grew up in nearby Ferntree Gully with his parents who later moved to Wantirna.
The house, with a price guide of $660,000-$726,000, was popular with buyers, drawing more than 120 groups at inspections, Mr Fatchen said.
“The strong result was also due to the shortage of quality, renovated homes and such listings see massive competition,” he added.
The property previously sold for $472,000 more than eight years ago, giving the vendors a price gain of $311,000 between sales.
First-home buyers also snapped up a three-bedroom unit at 2A Derby Rd in the same suburb. It sold for $725,000, or $45,000 above reserve, and had three bidders.
Ray White Ferntree Gully also sold a third property under the hammer the same day, with 23 Castricum Place. Ferntree Gully, fetching $705,000.
