LUXURY HOME SET TO SHATTER SUBURB’S PRICE RECORD
While the property secured the Parramatta region’s highest sale price of the week, it also netted the top price paid for a property in the suburb for 2019, according to CoreLogic data.
Despite featuring yellow benchtops in the kitchen and old patterned carpet throughout, the home sold via Belle Property Parramatta agents Christopher Sahyoun and John Dahdah, who took 33 groups through it.
“This was a unique one because it is rare to get a house on the market in that street and it is also opposite a church, so we thought it would see strong interest,” Mr Sahyoun said.
“We had 17 registered bidders and five or six of those competed at the auction,” he said.
Bidding opened at $800,000 and quickly jumped to $1 million and then $1.1 million before rising in smaller increments.
While a number of developers were eyeing the 676 sqm block, it sold to a family from the area who will move in and update the four-bedder with a studio.
The new owners were drawn to the property’s location — across the road from a church and in a street they had always aspired to live in.

Records reveal it was the first freestanding home to hit the market in Alice St in three years.
The tightly-held suburb, about 19km from the city and less than 2km from Parramatta, saw less than 10 houses sell during the 12 months to April.
