If you’re looking to set up your own business or relocate a home office, you might want to take note of an iconic Semaphore property.
The circa 1925 shop front, at 125 & 125a Military Rd, has been completely revamped and offers a rare opportunity to live and work from home in absolute style.

Is this Australia’s best one-bedroom home?
Advertised with a price guide of $495,000 – $125,000 below Semaphore’s median house price of $620,000, according to CoreLogic – the property will go to auction this Saturday at noon.
Harcourts Smith selling agent Liz Miles said the property had a rich history and provided a flexible space for a variety of businesses.
“It’s been a hairdresser salon, a haberdashery, a photography shop and even a real estate agency,” she said.
“Upstairs there’s a loft, which has been used as a residence in the past – there’s plenty of space for work and home.”
Ms Miles said the property had attracted 20 groups through open inspections, with many looking to convert the shop front into a cafe.
“It’s such a great location. You’re right in-between Port Adelaide which is really taking off with a lot of old pubs reopening and the Dock One redevelopment,” she said.
“A lot more people are transitioning to Port Adelaide, so it would be a great location to start a home business or relocate – especially coming into the warmer months.”
The downstairs offers two separate shop fronts, with the first featuring a studio, an office and a laundry. Meanwhile, the second features a kitchen and meals area, plus a bathroom and access to the loft bedroom.
The Art Deco facade has a beautiful veranda, with a private courtyard at the back for entertaining and a handy car park space.
Ms Miles said properties like these were incredibly rare, with a number of buyers interested in the upcoming auction.
“I’ve been working my magic, hopefully it’ll be a good turn out. We have a coffee van coming along as well,” she said.
“People are really loving the character, they love the doors and the pressed tin ceilings, just the history of the property.”
Semaphore has experienced a 13.8 per cent change in median house price over the last three years, according to CoreLogic.
