Home-sized dimensions and attractive architecture are expected to entice downsizers in their 40s to an Essendon development.
Allison Parkside is being developed by Harris HMC, which works on both government and residential projects.
Sales agent Adam Farrugia said the 28-apartment complex was already getting attention from buyers much younger than you might expect from a downsizer.

“It’s down to 40-plus now,” Mr Farrugia said.
“They are looking for a place so they can go to the beach house on the weekend and lock up their city place and nick off. And they may have teenage kids at high school still.”
Three-bedroom homes spanning upwards of 120sq m were winning them over, he said.
One-bedroom floorplans are also spacious, starting at 60sq m, while a 165sq m penthouse tops out the list.
“They are really like homes,” Mr Farrugia said.
Adding to the sense of space is a MAP Architecture design blending vertical lines across its lower floors and curving horizontals lines with greenery higher up.
“Everyone who has walked in has said that it looks really elegant and it’s not your stock-standard development,” Mr Farrugia said.
Highlights inside the homes include Miele appliances, as well as polished limestone splashbacks and benchtops in both the kitchens and bathrooms.
“It’s just another level that you want as an owner occupier,” he said.
And with the build yet to start buyers could still customise floorplans to a degree, he added.
A grand launch on Saturday runs from 10am-1pm, with the builders on site to answer questions and coffee served for a taste of the area’s cafe culture.
