A landscaper’s home with designer outdoors has fetched a seven-figure sum in Ferntree Gully.
The $1.005 million result for 6 Taree Court was $75,000 above reserve.
The four-bidder auction for the single-level home took off to reach the $930,000 reserve with just the third bid, Barry Plant Rowville auctioneer Brenton Wilson said.
“The vendors were in tears because the sale price validated their labour of love,” Mr Wilson said.

The three-bedroom home features resort-style, palm-fringed outdoors with a rock waterfall feature, alfresco dining area, deck and feature lighting.
The vendors paid $235,000 for the 600sq m property in 2005 and went on to landscape it for low-maintenance living.
While a young couple and two established families were keen bidders, the home sold to a single downsizer from Templestowe.
Mr Wilson noted downsizers were very active in the Knox market but there was a lack of supply.
In Lysterfield, a downsizer paid $957,800 in a private deal for 10 Melata Way, which had four offers.
“The Baby Boomers and those aged in their 60s are either going into retirement living or downsizing to single-level homes with low maintenance,” Mr Wilson said.
“They make up 20 per cent of buyers but single-level homes and townhouses are scarce because most developers build two-storey homes for better yield.”
As an indication of the demand for such homes, a downsizer’s own home at 1417 Ferntree Gully Rd, Scoresby attracted 10 offers to fetch $743,000.
The single-level 725sq m property was on the market for the first time in over 50 years.
