A rainbow-coloured heritage home with rooms resembling licorice allsorts is a good old-fashioned treat on the market in Elsternwick.

The Arts & Crafts-style pad at 25 Elizabeth St is in a prime position and hasn’t been up for grabs since the vendors bought it for just $72,000 back in 1976.

Biggin & Scott Elsternwick director Bill Stavrakis said the eye-catching property had price hopes of $3.5 million this time around, with negotiations underway with several families.

Mm, coffered ceilings.

Like living inside a giant licorice allsort.

Calming tones in the bedroom.

“Our vendor, Heather, is quite artistic and has a big personality; it was just one of those homes where they loved their time in the home,” he said.

“In terms of the decor, you see a lot of places that are painted all white — this is the complete opposite: its colour palette is like a kaleidoscope, really.”

Baby pink formal living and dining rooms with dark timber coffered ceilings offer a window into what life could be like living inside a giant licorice allsort.

An aqua bedroom provides a calming, tranquil space to retreat to at the end of the day, while a yellow kitchen and orange living room ensure owners are bright and bubbly to start the day.

Mr Stavrakis said the property had “served the family very, very well” and it was time for a new family to “love it like it was for close to 43 years”.

Plenty of space for an extension and pool with room left over.

“Elizabeth St is the most prestigious and highly regarded, tightly held street in Elsternwick, and this particular property is smack bang in the middle of that street,” he said.

“If Elsternwick had a heart, this would be a main artery.”

A 1044sq m block with plenty of room for a pool and extension while still having more space, and right of way access from the rear, running parallel with neighbouring Regent St, where The Block was in 2017, were drawcards alongside the home’s Arts & Crafts character.

It was auctioned amid tougher market conditions prior to the federal election this year, Mr Stavrakis said, and negotiations were currently underway with a few families.

“With any luck, it will be sold in the next 10 days,” he said.

Spritely spring mornings.

Chill out zone.

The home has heritage overlay.
